The first episode of Caspar Schmitz-Morkramer’s new architecture podcast, “Maßstab Mensch,” (“Scale:human”) features none other than perhaps the world’s most influential urban planner: Jan Gehl. Caspar Schmitz-Morkramer spoke with him about age, anti-tuberculosis architecture, and the grass between the houses.
The talk series focuses on transformation, sustainability and the future of the construction industry. How can we put people at the center of architecture without making them the measure of all things, as we have done for far too long? This is the question behind the motto of our studio and the title of the podcast.
Let’s face it, no one really knows what sustainability is or how it works. The only certain thing is that lateral, networked thinking is more important than ever. Architecture and urban planning, social and political, economic and ecological, digital and analog – they all have to come together, converge, ideally become congruent. That’s what we are trying to do with the new podcast, where Caspar Schmitz-Morkramer wants to talk about different topics with different players inside and outside the industry. Regularly, irregularly, a few times a year.
