Finalist for the Conversion of Fliegerhorst Fürstenfeldbruck
A new living and working quarter with a green ring

During the first stage of a competition, Schellenberg & Bäumler Architekten GmbH and studio grüngrau Landschaftsarchitektur GmbH in collaboration with caspar. submitted a design for the conversion of the Fliegerhorst Fürstenfeldbruck into a living and working quarter. We are now among the finalists for the second stage.

The basic structure is defined by the landscape and the cultural history of the site. It draws inspiration from history, nature, the surrounding forests as well as the vastness. In terms of the city as a whole, the urban expansion is used to achieve an ecological structuring and biotope networking of the landscape. A new green ring and additional open space corridors in the direction of the Amper River integrate the air base into the higher-level urban and open space structure.
