On the occasion of the 10th Hamburg Architecture Summer, the AIT-ArchitekturSalon in Hamburg was transformed into an Architects’ Literary Salon. In line with the motto “Die Architektur im Buch. Das Buch in der Architektur.” (“Architecture in books. Books in Architecture.”), architects, authors, publishers, and photographers came together for lively discussions about the meaning of books in the context of architecture, particularly in an age of digital media.

Architekturstudio caspar. invited to participate in panel discussion on June 15, 2023. Michael Kuhn (CBDO) and Florian Sautter (Knowledge & Documentation Manager) will be sharing the stage with the curator team Kristina Bacht (Director of the AIT-ArchitekturSalons) and Olaf Bartels (Architecture journalist and author). The focus will be on the significance of the two latest publications by Caspar Schmitz-Morkramer – the study “Retail in Transition – Verkaufswelten im Umbruch” and the first volume (Prologue) of the series “Der Nachhalt” – for the firm’s architectural work.

Until July 14, 2023, the AIT-ArchitekturSalon will also be hosting an exhibition of the works of renowned photographers that showcases their perspectives on the relationship between books and architecture. Another part of the exhibit consists of a number of books. It introduces publications hand-picked by international architects who describe and explain a book that has served as a source of inspiration for their architectural work or continues to inspire them today in very special ways.
