“How does sustainable construction start?” That was the question on June 29 at the Architekturgalerie Munich in the BUNKER, where our publication “Der Nachhalt” officially has been presented.

Stefanie Weidner and Caspar Schmitz-Morkramer briefly presented their books, “non nobis – über das Bauen in der Zukunft, Band I” and “Der Nachhalt Band I,” which wonderfully complement one another. The titles (“One has to start from what is” and “Prologue”) already emphasize that – as strange as it sounds in mid-2022 – we first have to define the starting points before we can find the ways and means for truly sustainable construction.

The fact that this is not and cannot be the only way was not only made clear by contributions from Stefanie Weidner and Caspar Schmitz-Morkramer, but was also immediately and repeatedly corroborated by Jeanne-Marie Ehbauer, who became the focus of attention after the keynote speeches. We have to seek “many different ways,” she said, and all the panel members agreed that seeking also means experimenting, which in turn means a tolerance for error. But those who seek find. And find we must. We must find ourselves. Find one another, come together – that was also the consensus, In order to turn paroles (French for “words”) into deeds.
