Project Start of Vertikum in Düsseldorf
Urban repair on a minimal floor plan

In Düsseldorf, the office and commercial building Vertikum establishes a higher dynamic between the Kö-Bogen Tunnel and the Platz der Deutschen Einheit.

In the future, the first thing you’ll see when you take the newly built Kö-Bogen Tunnel to the center of Düsseldorf will be the dynamic curves of the Vertikum. Thanks to a rerouting of traffic, the location of the 548-square-meter corner plot on the well-frequented Berliner Allee achieves a totally new presence.

At the same time, the new building enters into direct dialog with the listed St. John’s Church from 1875 and the Ministry of Justice of North Rhine Westphalia. What is needed here is sensitive urban repair. After winning first prize in a quality-assurance procedure, caspar. was awarded the planning contract for a nine-story office and commercial building on a trapezoidal plot in 2017. This design, which incorporates the existing shapes and structures of the location, spatially defines and restructures the area between Martin-Luther-Platz, Berliner Allee, and Platz der Deutschen Einheit in terms of urban planning.

The Vertikum is scheduled for completion in September 2022. The project is being implemented by the project developer Freundlieb together with Convalor Projektpartner GmbH.
