Our historically significant project, Villa am Rhein, is located in a prominent position on the banks of the Rhine in Neuss. Dating from 1953, the residential building offers approximately 500 sqm of usable floor area and is set within an expansive, park-like property offering unobstructed, impressive views of the river. A private client has commissioned us to carry out a comprehensive conversion and refurbishment of the villa, including an individually designed interior fit-out. The project aims to enhance the existing architecture while creating a sense of contemporary spaciousness and high-standard residential comfort.
Following the submission of the planning application in November 2019 and its approval in April, the building was almost completely stripped back and structurally reinforced. A key intervention was raising the entire roof structure by 25 cm to significantly increase the ceiling heights on the upper floor. The addition of three generously sized dormer windows opens up the interior spaces towards the Rhine further and enhances the house’s exceptional location. The project is defined by high standards of quality and execution. Through close collaboration with the client, a residence is being created that respects the historic fabric of the building while expressing a clear and contemporary architectural language.
