This project is from the joint period of meyerschmitzmorkramer.
One of the landmarks proudly standing in Düsseldorf’s Medienhafen is the SIGN! office tower by Murphy/Jahn. Since its opening, this prestigious address has been home to the commercial law firm Noerr. In 2015, the firm expanded, renting additional floors, including the impressive skydeck on the 19th floor, and commissioned us to design the interior. The law firm desired a holistic, modern, high-quality design for its office floors, conference rooms, and event areas. Using sophisticated natural materials like teak and limestone along with thoughtfully composed organic shapes, we created an ambiance that is both welcoming and highly professional, offering a pleasant contrast to the building’s cool, high-tech architecture. The Noerr interior was honored as a “Winner” at the ICONIC AWARDS 2017 and the German Design Award 2018.
We designed the newly rented floors for Noerr as classic office spaces with high design standards. Highly soundproofed individual offices offer maximum discretion, while generously glazed kitchenettes and break areas give a sense of openness and encourage informal interaction. Panoramic elevators provide access to the 17th-floor meeting rooms. The spacious reception area features an open design that incorporates the ever-changing panorama of the city and harbor throughout the day and year, enhancing the spatial experience. Interior walls, frames, and doors are clad in walnut, while the light Dietfurt limestone floor, sandblasted and brushed, seamlessly blends into the warm color palette. The six-meter-long L-shaped reception counter combines both materials in one elegant piece. Stonemasons and carpenters collaborated with precision, first in their workshops and then on-site, to create this extraordinary and valuable feature.
The skydeck on the 19th floor of SIGN! is located under a glass-barrel roof and offers an impressive 360-degree view of the city and countryside. Noerr commissioned us to transform this domed space into a highly functional event floor. The central access divides the open space into two zones: on one side, a lounge area with a bar, library, and casually arranged seating; on the opposite side, a conference and seminar area. The organically shaped, wood-clad fixtures are freestanding and never obscure the panoramic views. A large screen can be raised from a custom-made walnut console when needed; otherwise, the view remains unobstructed.
