“Expertise in civil engineering and its practical application has never been more important than it is today,” Caspar Schmitz-Morkramer emphasized in his laudatory speech for Prof. Elisabeth Endres, the winner of the ULI Germany Leadership Award 2025 in the “Urban Innovation” category. The award was presented on November 20 at the Wintergartenvarieté in Berlin. The award went to Prof. Elisabeth Endres, a civil engineer and architect. The jury, of which Schmitz-Morkramer was a member, agreed that there could hardly be a more deserving winner.
“Elisabeth Endres is a teacher in Braunschweig, co-managing director of IB Hausladen in Munich, and most recently, co-curator of the German Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale. Her expertise is surpassed only by her ability to communicate it,” said the laudatory speech. And that is a crucial point. According to Caspar Schmitz-Morkramer, the construction industry will determine our success in mitigating or adapting to climate change. However, since this is a task for society as a whole, teaching the subject must become almost as important. We offer our heartfelt congratulations!
Since 2005, the ULI Germany Leadership Awards have recognized future-oriented, sustainable thinking and action in five categories. Congratulations also go to the other award winners:
– Emil Pabst, managing director of Veomo Consulting GmbH, won the Young Leader award.
– Werner Eckart, managing director of OTEC GmbH & Co. KG, for the Urban Planning award
– Isabella Chacón Troidl, the CEO of BNP Paribas Real Estate Investment Management Germany GmbH, won in the Real Estate Industry category.
– last but not least: Dieter Müller, founder and chairman of Motel One Group, for his lifetime achievement.
Caspar Schmitz-Morkramer has had the honor of serving on the jury that nominates and presents the ULI Germany Leadership Award to renowned individuals. Previous recipients include Sir David Chipperfield (2021), Thomas M. Rau (2022), Florian Nagler, and Dr. Ernst Böhm (2023).
