Transformation with Respect for History
Light, openness, and transparency for the industrial icon

Up to 75 million eggs and countless other temperature-sensitive foods were once precisely cooled in the 9-story warehouse at Berlin’s Osthafen. Built in 1929 to plans by architect Oskar Pusch, this industrial icon at Stralauer Allee 1 stands directly by the Spree River and the famous Oberbaumbrücke. Its popular nickname is “Eierkühlhaus”. Officially, however, we – together with our client Irene Propco 7 (Stralauer Allee Berlin), represented by OFFICEFIRST Real Estate – refer to the building as “Stralauer ONE.” We’re giving it a new name because we’re giving it a new life as a flexible-use office property. We’re preserving as much of its past as possible, respecting its history by retaining its core structure and steel skeleton. At the same time, we’re repositioning its two access cores to create a space filled with light, openness, and transparency.
