Project Update maxfrei
Living, working, playing, being together

Maxfrei, an urban quarter offering maximum freedom, is being built on the site of a former prison. Our contribution consists of two building blocks—a commercial building and a residential building—which flank the chapel and the town square. Individual residential and office spaces are being created here, along with a mix of restaurants, a supermarket, and a daycare center. Light-colored clinker bricks and the continuous grid of the perforated façade create a uniform appearance on Ulmer Straße. The facing views of the residential and commercial buildings are set back in three stages, giving light, space, and life to the square and chapel in their center. On the street side, both buildings contain a total of 17,500 m² of office space. A neighborhood app digitally connects the neighborhood, while green spaces and playgrounds encourage personal encounters.
